Ever get tired of spending more time in your kayak fighting the wind and current than actually fly fishing?

Me too. But there is a better way…

  1. Dave, great video. Well done sir! You had me convinced of getting a float tube the first time you mentioned it- but this just really brigs to light the real requirement for all the crazy places you’d have to traverse to find a really good haunt and keep it manageable. Run-on sentence? Maybe. True? Well, only one movie quote really comes to mind, “Hello McFly!” and now I suddenly feel like Biff for not having one. Thanks for the insight and keep up the great work!

  2. Thanks, it took me long enough to get around to editing that thing. Having to work really gets in the way of the important stuff!

You know back before I had anything else, I used a float on your home waters of Lake Bastrop. Not easy to flutter kick fin around half of that lake but had some really great fly fishing days doing it.

  3. I just wanted to reply to a question I got about me using the net in the video.

I am using a net now for all but the smallest fish due to the unusual amount of stress the fish here in Central Texas are under because of the drought. It really shortens the fight time and provides a much less stressful place to remove the hook.

I’m also aware of a being a bit of a hypocrite here since I am lifting the fish for the camera creating additional stress. I know that, but its is a video shoot after all or I wouldn’t have even been there in the first place.

  4. Loved the video, I do alot of trout fishing here in West Virginia. The wife bought me a couple of float tubes last year as a present so I am anxious to try them out this season. The video was so relaxing. What was the name of the song and who sings it, it was great, would love to get a CD. Keep fishing!
